The analysis of educational programs for the training of engineering personnel for leading industries, disciplines and modules designed to develop the skills and abilities of creating innovative products and technologies is given. The article describes the actual resources, alternatives and contradictions of the formation of competencies aimed at the development of non-trivial inventive thinking of research engineers, designers, technologists who create globally competitive projects of innovative technology and technology. The experience of application and efficiency of modern software for supporting the development of patentable objects is generalized.
