The problems of reducing energy consumption in the process of turning are examined. It is shown that power intensity of these processes depends on the amount of the consumed power necessary for their implementation, and that reduction of energy consumption can be achieved through compensation of the reactive component of the power consumption. The results of experimental researches on reducing energy intensity of technological processes in various modes of their implementation are presented.
Keywords: (technological) process, modes of turning, power/energy intensity, electric drive, reactive power, compensation, effectiveness (efficiency, productivity).
