The review of the key research data obtained over the last 25 years of STANKIN linguistic school work is given. The article provides methodical principles of teaching Russian as a foreign language based on the conducted theoretical research, and describes different types of teaching aids on academic style and the language of speciality. It is underlined that nowadays the theoretical and practical achievement of STANKIN linguodidactic school is in great demand in Russian education.
