This article provides an algorithm that allows you to form a parameterized mathematical model of the formation of a cutting pattern for the process of shaping helical surfaces with a standard profile tool. A graphical diagram of the method for determining the thickness of the cut layers of material depending on the shape of the initial surface, installation parameters, tool size and specified feed per tooth is presented. Two schematic diagrams of tool installation for machining helical grooves of tools are considered.
