The paper presents the results of studies of the complex effect of the properties of carbide substrates and composite coatings on the tool wear resistance in the treatment of high-temperature chromium-based alloys. Rational use of a hard alloy whose mechanical properties make it possible to fully realize the properties of the coating. This is not realized at low values of strength and (or) heat resistance of a hard alloy. Exceeding the strength and heat resistance beyond the necessary for the implementation of the properties of the coating is superfluous.
Keywords: carbide substrate, multilayer composite coating, tool wear resistance.
